Overview
The ability to image cartilage composition using MRI has been available now for several decades, but clinical adoption has been slow. In this session we will open with two opposing views as to whether we need cartilage compositional imaging for clinical and/or research purposes. We will then move on to consider the barriers to wider clinical translation and some potential solutions to these.
Target Audience
Clinicans and scientists with an interest in cartilage composition and/or a general interest in how quantitative MRI techniques are implemented in clinical practice
Educational Objectives
As a result of attending this course, participants should be able to:
- Describe potential use cases of quantitative cartilage imaging in clinical routine and research settings;
- Describe unmet needs with current widely used clinical imaging techniques that quantitative cartilage imaging could address; and
- Recognize some of the barriers to implementation of quantitative cartilage imaging in clinical practice and how these are being/could be addressed.
