Summary
Itching to find out what's happening over at Rubin Observatory with the Legacy Survey of Space & Time? Then this is not a Town Hall you want to miss! Construction of the Vera C. Rubin Observatory is steadily approaching completion and is expected to achieve first light in 2024, yes, this year! At the time of AAS 243, the Project will be well into the integration and testing phase of the full system in Chile including the LSST Camera, which will arrive in Chile before this meeting. In this Town Hall, we will present highlights from the construction progress, and ongoing initiatives by the Science Collaborations and the LSST Discovery Alliance to prepare for science investigations with Rubin Observatory’s Legacy Survey of Space and Time. The Operations team will update the community on its plans and status, including education and public outreach activities, data previews, how data will be distributed during commissioning, and the status of international partnerships. NSF and DOE will provide information on upcoming funding opportunities.
