Summary
The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) has been operational and gathering transformational science for over 2 years, with the beginning of Cycle 3 and a new set of observations beginning in July 2024. The planetary science community is now fully aware of the capabilities of this facility and is engaged at a level that could not have been anticipated at the time of launch. We will dedicate a portion of this townhall report on the planetary science proposal statistics to date, as well as provide an overview of the changes for the Cycle 4 call for proposals. Proposals will be due on October 16th, the week after the DPS meeting. Additionally, updates on the recent changes to Hubble Space Telescope (HST) operations, with a move to single-gyro mode to extend the lifetime of the facility, will be presented and the impacts to future planetary science observations outlined. There will be time for questions from the community on JWST and HST topics.
